Brad. S. Burlew, MD, FACC, FCCPDr. Brad Burlew brings unique perspectives to the practice of Cardiology. A graduate of General Motors Institute, he left a promising career as a General Motors research and development engineer to study medicine at Northwestern University. After residency at Henry Ford Hospital culminating with Chief Medical Resident status, he completed a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine enabling him to obtain board certification not only in Internal Medicine, but also in Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Burlew was also among the first wave of cardiologists trained in the new specialty of interventional cardiology.
He has served as Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at both the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Utah. Dr. Burlew’s work in the area of diastolic dysfunction/diastolic heart failure has been recognized both nationally and internationally, including in a recent addition of Braunwald’s Heart Disease. He has also authored chapters on the topic of pregnancy and heart disease in collaboration with Dr. Howard Horn. Dr. Burlew is delighted to open his own practice in Elko, Nevada, Elko Cardiology Associates. His primary passion remains the care of his patients. |
Elizabeth Burlew, MSN, APRN, ACNPElizabeth Burlew is an acute care nurse practitioner specializing in General Cardiology with more than 30 years’ experience caring for patients with cardiovascular disease. She began her professional career studying Slavic languages at the University of Michigan. After completing a master's degree in Critical Care Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, she served as a clinical nurse specialist in Critical Care/Cardiology for over 16 years at the Regional Medical Center and Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She eventually completed post master’s work for certification as an acute care nurse practitioner.
Elizabeth has served as an adjunct instructor in the acute care nurse practitioner programs at both the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and the University of Utah. She has also practiced in the division of Cardiology and with the Neuromuscular Disease Section at the University of Utah, Clinical Neurosciences Center. She has lectured and presented her work at local, national and international meetings. Like Dr. Burlew, she is delighted to live and work in this area. |
